A little about Nigeria: Why we do this work
Nigeria has over 200 million people, with about 50% below the age of 18. Unfortunately, the country has
the highest number of out of school children in the world, and many of those who are able to go to school,
still find it difficult to get sustainable employment. Hence, the extreme rate of poverty, with about half of
its population living on less than $2 per day. Interestingly, despite the increasing rate of job seekers, many
employers struggle to find individuals with the right skills and experiences needed to fill vacant positions.
Therefore, it is important to bridge the gap between school and work, so that young people from low
income communities can build the career that they love, get quality employment, and rise above poverty.

Company Profile
Crystal Lens means clarity of vision. The organization was borne out of a strong desire to help young people from vulnerable communities in Nigeria to look beyond existing limitations; clearly see their potentials and be equipped for the future.
In 2013, Crystal Lens Impact Africa Foundation was started as a project-based organization called Crystal Lens Career Builders, with a focus on education and workforce development for individuals in low-income communities within Nigeria. The organization however upgraded its registration status as a female-led nonprofit organization in 2019. Currently, Crystal Lens is an affiliate of UrbanPromise International, a 501 (C) (3) nonprofit based in the United States of America. In addition to its governing board in Nigeria, Crystal Lens has a US advisory board of professionals that help to develop curriculum and evaluation measurement standards, as well as provide fundraising and other support to enhance its local operations.
Specifically, Crystal Lens provides career development and training, while connecting young people from low income communities to opportunities needed to acquire 21st century skills and gain hands-on work experiences. Currently, the organization runs three (3) major programs – Work-based Learning, Alumni Network and Girls Empowerment Program, in addition to other smaller community impact projects

To provide practical knowledge to young people from low-income communities, equip them with essential skills, and connect them to opportunities through which they can maximize their potentials, build successful careers and ultimately rise above poverty and live fulfilling lives
